Pakistani Designer's Top Wins Paris Contest

JAN 08 - Pakistan's promising student fashion designer, Hassan Ashraf Butt studying at the Pakistan School of Fashion Design (PSFD), won the ‘Country Prize’ at a fashion designers’ competition in France. Fashion designers studying at various fashion institutes around the world participate in the competition each year.

The 23rd such competition called the 2005 International Young Fashion Designers Competition was held in Paris on December 15 last year. “I am happy and feeling great at this achievement,” Hassan, a final year student at the PSFD, told the media. He said that he had designed a top with digital printing, which caught the jury’s eye at the competition.
The theme of the competition was ‘Art, Fashion and Industry’. He said that he had chosen pop art and jazz music as the inspiration for the top. The young designer said that he was impressed by a foreign fashion designer, Andy Warhol, who rebelled in the 1960s and 70s against conventional art shows and introduced wild ideas at art exhibitions. He said that Andy used ordinary things as a medium to express art and culture. Hassan won 450 euros at the competition, but he said that he had not received the cash yet.
A Slovakian female model set the ramp ablaze as she cat walked wearing the top, he said and added that he had designed the top in three months. He said that 10 students from the PSFD participated in the competition, but he was the lucky one because of his unconventional approach towards fashion.Five Pakistani fashion student designers participated in the competition. They are besides Butt, Amaima Sheikh, Hejab ali Khan, Syed Zubai Hassan and Aisha Khalid Randhawa.

Hot Women Sarees Online

The saree is a traditional garment for women. It comprises a long single piece of fabric, approximately 5.5 metres in length and 1 metre in width, expertly wound around a woman’s body, with the loose end thrown over the shoulder. Worn with a choli, or short, fitting blouse, the fabric itself can be very detailed. Look closely and you might just see real gold or silver threads! Buy some saree fabric that takes your fancy, and turn a simple modern pattern into a stunning outfit.

Sherwani - Shop Asian Groom's Wedding Attires

Sherwani is the most traditional of asian garments. It is a close fitting jacket of knee length or longer with a Nehru collar with tight fitting churidar trousers. Sherwani look stunning and are perfect attire for the wedding and also the reception.
When it comes to an Indian wedding, sherwanis counts amongst the most popular dressing options for the groom. A traditional attire of Indian men, it was initially worn only by the males in Uttar Pradesh, along with the city of Hyderabad. However, with the passing time, sherwani came to be the ultimate wedding attire, wooing grooms in almost all the parts of India. Quite similar to an Achkan, or a doublet, it gives the perfect 'traditional' look to an Indian man. Combine it with a stole, mojris and Bandhni pagri and you are all set to make heads turn in your own wedding.

Shop Shalwar Kameez Online

Indian dresses always have a demand in the international fashion market because of its unique and outstanding styles and types of garments. While the saree is considered sensuous attire, the other commonly worn Indian garment is the salwar kameez.

This garment is essentially a three-piece attire consisting of:

-Salwar (bottom, or the pajama)

-Kameez (top, also known as kurta)

-Duppata (scarf)

Generally the salwar kameez is long, going below the knees. It is straight and has two slits on either side. The salwar is flared with a horizontal band at the end. The duppata or scarf is rectangle in shape and worn in front with the sides falling at the back from over the shoulders. This is the basic description of what a salwar kameez usually is. However, there are modifications of this garment in terms of the length of the kameez.
